lhe Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Visitor Center at Big Meadows will be opened to the public on Friday, March 24, and daily until mid-November, as will the Visitor Center at Dickey Ridge near Front Royal Park orientation programs and exhibits are designed to help introduce visitors to the Park’s principal features. While the Big Meadows Camp ground and Dundo Campground (temporary) are open all year, tentative opening dates for campgrounds at Loft Mountain and Lewis Mountain have been scheduled for April 15 and May 20 respectively. Hoskins said that while the April 15 date has been set for Loft Mountain, the fountains will not be turned on until April 26 to avoid the possibility of freezing. Another major camp ground is under construction at Matthews Arm hi the North District of the Park, according to Hoskins, who said that it is doubtful it will be ready for occupancy before late sum mer, at which time approximately 176 sites will be available.
