During the first two months of 1967 an additional 212 deer have died from accidents, with autos accounting for over half. Illegal kills during the two month period accounted for 46 deer. The greatest accidental mortality occurs in October, November and December which coincides with the rutting season and the hunting season when the animals are harried by dogs.
