Hollywood Rider in
Front Royal Sat.
Dick Ryan, a Hollywood stunt rider, and his horse will perform on Main Street in Front Royal Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m. An added attraction will be free pony rides for children from 11 a.m. until the 2 o’clock performance by Ryan. Main ■Street from Crescent to Chester Streets will be closed to traffic during the event.
The event is sponsored by the Retail Merchants Commit tee of the Front Royal Chamber of Commerce with Wayne McClure, chairman, as isisted by Joe McDaniel, Robert Kuser and Ron Jacobson.
Two ponies will-be used for the children to ride. The small est one, named Daniel, appear ed in the movie “The Wizard of Oz." Free tickets for the pony rides may be obtained from Front Royal merchants. Ryan will start his performance at 2 p.m. Among the stunts the equestrian will pet form during the show will be jumping his horse through a ring of fire, jumping over a bed with people in it, or over peonle sittinti at a table. Assisting Ryan will be Carolyn Templeton, Betty Lawrence and Marjorie Lane. Ryan began his stunting career in the 30’s, and has work ed the lots for 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers and Universal with many well: known actors. “A Day at the Races* was the first movie in which he performed as a stunt rider. In commenting on his work, Ryan said “I do difficult leaps things that no one else will do. Everything I do is out in the open. I do not use any phony tactics.* He performs mostly on asphalt in parking ^ots and shopping centers.
