Since 1958, the Virginia Heart Association has allocat ed funds each year for the purchase of oxygen equipment for a total expenditure of $38,910.00. Since that time, equipment has been placed in over 100 Va. Cities and towns. This is in addition to oxygen equipment donated by the local Heart Associaion Chapters which serve the larger Metropolitan Areas of Virginia. Rescue Units are required to submit information as to financial need, evidence that the equipment will be in demand for emergency use, number of calls made requiring use of oxygen, and other data justifying the need of' equip ment.
The Heart Association donated equipment is for use by rescue units primarily in heart emergencies, especial ly those in which heart patients are being transported. Such equipment also may^be used in other emergency situations not involving heart patients. Deadline for receipt by Vir ginia Heart Assolcatlon of the completed applications from rescue units, is April 21. Donation of the equipment is made possible through contri buttons to the Heart Fund.
