On Vocational School
Carver High School, constructed in 1948, jointly owned by Culpeper, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock Counties, operated as an all negro high school for almost twenty years, no longer is serving the counties in that capacity. Rappahannock County was the first of the four counties to! remove its students at the end of the 1965-1966 school j session. Madison and Orange i Counties continued to use Carver High School on a limited basis through the 1966-1967 school year. At present Culpeper County is the only County with high school students enrolled at Carver. What then, is the future of this school plant consisting of twenty-two classrooms, a shop area of 3850 square feet, formerly used as a Vocational Agriculture Shop, an equipped Home Economics Department, Cafeteria, Auditorium, Gymnasium and Science Classrooms, a plant valued at just under one million dollars.
