Barksdale, Chairman, of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee, said today that recommendations from producers and the trade at recent feed grain meetings have provided the Department of Agriculture with a broad cross-section of opinion on the type of program desired for the 1968 crop. Mr. Barksdale said that reports he has received from USDA indicated strong support from producers and their organizations for a 1968 program which would result in less production than that which is expected to be harvested under the 1967 program. He added that while full agreement was neither expected nor achieved at the 12 meetings throughout the Nation, a great many in attendance felt production of feed grains nationally this year would exceed market demand.
