faced with the problem of the continued use of this plant at an educational institution in terms of improving the education and economic level of all the people in the four County area. To this end the Control Board directed that an Education Center be developed to berve the four Counties in the following areas: High School Vocational- and continuing Adult Education. T. N. Broyles was employed as Director and given the task of developing a High School Vocational Program to begin in September 1968 and to develop an Adult Program as rapidly as possible.
This Vocational and continuing Adult Education Center was named Piedmont Vocational School by the Regional Control Board in August, a name more in keeping with the overall objectives and plans for the Center. At present Piedmont Vocational School is offering instruction in several areas of Adult Education. Review classes in General Educational Development are now under way. This program leads to testing for the high school equivalency certifica tefor those individuals who did not complete high school. Also underway at present is the Adult Basic Education Program for those individuals over the age of eighteen who have not completed the eighth grade.
