This fall marks the 10th year of operation of the Virginia BCIA bull testing program it Culpeper and the first year at Dublin. These tests include 123 young bulls at Culpeper and 68 at Dublin. When one considers the rigid preweaning performance of eligibility these bulls must have met to go on the feed test along with the standards they must meet while on test, one begins to comprehend the superior genetic material that is being made available to the beef cattle industry. A quick glance at the lists of consignors to these two testing stations show Rappahannock cattlemen are contributing for which we are proud. Allen Y. Stokes of Sperryville has two Charolais bulls on test while Rappahannock Angus breeders and the number of bulls consigned are: A. F. Cannon, Castleton (1), R indall Updike, Washington (2), and C. E. Johnson, Jr. of Sperryville (7). Also the average index of the bulls originating in Rappahannock is 143 as compared to 141 for all bulls in the 1967-68 Culpeper test!
