State Waters Stocked
With Channel Catfish
Over 46,000 channel catfish averaging 5 inches in length have been stocked in Game Commission lakes, reservoirs and streams across Virginia, Commission Warm Water Fisheries Supervisor Ray Corning advised. The fish were obtained from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Game Commission owned Scott-Wise, hJelson, Fluvanna Ruritan, Orange, Burke, and Brittle Lakes each received 15 to 20 of the little catfish per surface acre. Additional fingerling cats went into Beaver Creek, Laurel, Hungry Mother, South Rivanna, Hawfield, Jackson, Occoquan, and Baxter Lakes and Broad and Cedars Runs. Some 50,000 channel cats were stocked in the Clinch River earlier this fall.
