Panthers Drop Two

Games Last Week

Montevideo downed the Rappahannock Panthers last Wednesday on the local court with a one-point decision, the score standing at 75-74. In the first quarter the Panthers scored only 13 points to their opponents 26. The end of the third quarter showed Montevideo with 65 and Rappahannock dragging with 47. The Panthers closed the gap in the final quarter, scoring 27 points but were unable to overcome the Montevideo team which scored only 10 in that quarter. The ten points, gave them a one point margin to tally 75 points and defeat Rappahannock. Turner Ashby Knights trounced the Panthers in Friday’s game on the Rappahannock court, and final scoring showed 98 for T. A. and 64 for the Panthers. The Knights started rolling fast and charged ahead through the entire game. Bobby Settle was high man with 19 points; Charles Dodson, second with 15 and Roy Reeve close with 14. Turner Ashby is top team in the district, and in Friday’s game showed that elegant form which will, no doubt, keep them there.
