Sperryville May Day,

Health Day Program

Friday Afternoon

The May Day-Health Day program at Sperryville Elementary School will be held Friday, May 3 beginning at 1:15 p.m. Over 200 students, all Five Pointers, will participate in the program with the theme “Across the U.S.A. Today.” The King and Queen of Health with their court of honor will reign over festivities.

Fairs, Festivals and celebrations in the nation will be portrayed by skits, music, dances and acts staged in colorful costume. They range from the Apple Blossom Festival in Virginia, the Mississippi Shrimp Festival to ranches in Texas and Arizona reservations, and backtoTennessee where everything is celebrated including Mule Day This will probably be the last May Day program of its kind since all elementary schools will be consolidated next school year. The public is invited to attend.

Art Exhibit Friday

The Art Class of Rappahannock County High School will have a display of its work in the school Friday to coincide with the performance of the senior play. The art exhibit will be held in the cafeteria and may be viewed before, during intermission or after the play. It includes water colors, oils, charcoal and pencil drawings, seed craft, paris craft, stitchery and marionettes. Mrs. Christine Johnston is instructor of the class.
