For Eye Bank

Mrs. Janet Bay, a resident of Falls Church, Virginia, has established a memorial fund to the memory of her late husband, James C. Bay, the proceeds of which are to be used by the Old Dominion Eye Bank and Research, Inc. in its work of providing human eye tissue for sight-restoring corneal transplantation and research into the causes of blindness. The initial contribution to the fund, a check for $5000 representing contributions from Mu Bay’s fellow employees and nis employer, a Cleveland cos metics firm, was presented by Mrs. Bay to Jack L. Middleton of The Plains, Va., Chair man of the Board of Directors of the Old Dominion Eye Bank. Thirty-five years before his death last summer in an airplane accident, James Bay lost one of his eyes in an accident. In the intervening years, he and his wife had therefore become acutely conscious of .he vital importance of the gift of sight. Mrs. Bay’s interest in the work of the Eye Bank is not confined to the memorial fund. She has become an indefatigable volunteer worker for the Eye Bank, augmenting the task of Virginia Lions Clubs in soliciting eye-donor pledges from individuals and or* ganizations in Northern Virginia. The pledge cards are then sent to The Old Dominion Eye Bank and Research, Inc., 408 North 12th Street, Richmond, Va.
