Charnita has been called a "little jewel’; of an area for second homes and retirement living. The Rists, over a period of several years, have created a recreational area embracing several thousand acres of land which include a popular ski area, a professional 18 hole golf course, a beautiful lake for fishing and boating, and many other recreational facilities. As Charnita reaches a stage of developmental maturity, the Rists are exploring the possibilities of joining forces to create a similar area at Skyline. On Friday, May 3, the Rists, in company with the present group operating Skyline Ski Area, will appear before the County Board of Supervisors to discuss the feasibility of a joint operation involving Chai*nita and Skyline. Interested county residents may well wish to attend this meeting, and express their views on the possibility of creating a major recreational and vacation home area in Rappahannock County.
