Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church was organized and admitted to the Shiloh Association in August of 1833. At its humble beginning it had only 18 members. Messengers to the first Shiloh Association meeting were Philip Slaughter, Jr. Jacob Rudasill and Gerard Popham.
The membership of the church increased steadily until the War Between the States, at which time services were almost entirely suspended. A decline in membership followed this period. After the war, however, the church experienced genuine revival and baptisms averaged 25 to 30 per year.
Following the first World War, membership declined over half, but in 1967 the roster showed a total of 219 members.
