REMAINS OF A NEW TRAILER are scattered over an area of about 150 feet x 400 feet with only its furnace left in recognizable condition. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle C. Smith, standing amidst the ruins, and who were married in May, purchased the trailer only abjbut a month ago. Although secured to a permanent foundation, it was overturned with the young couple in it—and then the continued battering simply disintegrated it. The Smiths crawled to the ground and lay there until the worst was over. Mrs. Smith said the only time she was terribly frightened was when her husband crept back tq the ruins in an effort to find a towel so she could wrap it around her head as a protection from the hail. She was afraid lightning would strike him. Mr. Smithy said he was too busy to be scared. When the worst was over, they went to the home of a brother, Robert W. Smith, next door, and from there they expect to stay in the Home of their father, Charlie Smith, until they can plan their next step. (Photos courtesy Madison Eagle.)
