Washington Fire Department and Rappahannock Rescue Squad were successful in their carnival efforts last week in spite of the rain which completely washed out Friday night activities. The queen was crowned and prizes were awarded Saturday night to climax the four-night event. H.E. Travers of Gainesville was the fortunate recipient of the Ford pickup given as grand prize. Bud Corder of Huntly was awarded a set of auto tires and D.H. Bowman of Front Royal received the vacuum cleaner. Members of the two sponsoring organizations expressed appreciation to all who gave, worked, cooked, attended or aided the carnival’s success in any and every manner.
