Wheat Referendum
Set July 27-31
The proclamation of a mail referendum on 1971-crop wheat marketing quotas has been made, according to H. S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee, with the dates set for July 27-31.
As most wheat growers know the Agricultural Act of 1965 specifically suspended marketing quotas for wheat producers only for the duration of the Act. Now we go back to the previous law, which requires the marketing quota referendum - unless, of course, Congress should act to change or postpone these provisions.
