In the monthly meeting of the Amissville Ruritans last Wednesday evening, the Club expressed its recognition of and cooperation with another community service organization by voting a $200 gift toward the local fire department’s new equipment. Pres. Nelson Burner brought the proposal to a vote and further requested club members to assist the firemen with their duties and work on this week’s carnival.
A good old fashion pot roast - lemon pie dinner was served by the Young Adult Class of the Methodist Church. The Ruritan > National organization has a strong Interest in the Christian Church and significantly the Amissville Club made a contribution, this summer, to the Daily Vacation Bible Schools of both the Baptist and Methodist churches. Expenses were also paid for a local pastor, the Rev. Charles Kindred, to attend the Rural Church Conference of Virginia. As a personal testimony the Club voted to attend the revival service at the Forest Grove Church, last Friday evening.
