United States flags by the committee club members had topped 100. A further sale of six flagB was recorded during the meeting and it was decided to stock additional emblems from the manufacturer, to supply the Rappahannock demand for national flags. Hie flag kits including pole and socket are priced at $3.65. It was also voted to send a delegate to the Seminar on Citizenship and Patriotism, to be held at Cape Charles on the eastern shore, September 25 and 26.
In a recent column, reference was made to the achievements of Tom Downing, a Virginia past president of Ruritan National. Pres. Burner advised the club of another honor bestowed upon Mr. Downing by the Rural Electric Association of Virginia which presented a plaque identifying the Ruritarlan as the Unsung Virginian of the Year. The meeting ended following a request by Talmage Hitt to recognize his birthday. “Old Pipe Wrench” was thereupon serenaded with the usual cacophony of male voices.
