Letter To Editor
Editor, Rappahannock News Washington, Virginia
After reading your article, Consider Whom, I think you owe the citizens in Piedmont District an apology.
You stated that the entire Piedmont delegation immediately left after passage of the legislation to change the meeting day, which was not true. Mrs. Betty Ann Estes stayed until the meeting was over. That day I had promised to take a little girl to the University of Virginia Hospital for a check-up at the eye clinic, so I had to leave. There were others who had to go back to work, as most people in our district work whether they are able, or not.
Hie four Supervisors that were present voted for the change, so if Mrs. Betty Coates could have been there, five would have been for the change.
We in Piedmont District want to keep Betty Coates as our Supervisor as long as she will serve. She is a wonderful person who will do anything she can for people regardless of whether they are rich, or poor. That is more than can be said about some in Rappahannock County. We have people who have moved into this county that are always complaining about what goes on here. I came to Sperryville from Fauquier County, so if I had not liked I would have moved back. There are other counties that lo not have their Supervisor Meetings on Fridays, so those nany people involved, as you itated, certainly can come to a neeting on Saturday when there s something they would like >r ought up at any certain neeting.
Yours truly, - --- - Perie Coffey
