is the amount of monthly deposits that must be made if the expenses are to be met as they come due.
To clarify any misunderstanding, Miss Dailey cites a typical family’s situation. Due in January was a $165 life insurance payment. A $60 auto insurance payment had to be met in April. The family’s total such irregular expenses for the year was $900. Thus $75 was set aside each month for a reserve fund.
Each month, January through December, the family deposited $75 ip the reserve, fund, paid whatever bills l Were due and recorded a plus or minus reserve fund balance. In the event of a minus balance in the reserve fund, a bank loan was used to help pay whatever bills were due. The loan was repaid with the next deposit into the reserve fund. Miss Dailey cautioned families to remember the reserve fund is not for use in emergencies, but only for large, predictable bills which are not paid each month. Copies of MHM-41, including a reserve fund work sheet, are available at the county extension offices. Church Notice
