Gerald Lynn Spence, a former Specialist Five in the United States Army, was recently awarded the Army Commendation Medal in ceremonies at The Judge Advocate General s School in Charlottesville. The award was presented by Colonel John Jay Douglass, Commandant of the School. Specialist Spence was cited for his exceptionally meritorious service while assigned with the Army Security Agency in Turkey. Mr. Spence is now a part-time student attending Madison College in Harrisonburg. He is married to the former Joan Lee of Flint Hill and they live in Harrisonburg.
