THE NEW registration requirement will get all motor propelled boats, including many powered by electric motors which have heretofore been exempt. October 1,1972, was selected as a target date for the new law to become effective. This would give most small boat owners until the spring of 1973 to register their boats since few are used during winter months.
The commission went on record as opposing Senate Bill 132, which would exempt persons 65 and over from purchasing fishing licenses on the grounds that it would cut revenues and pass the cost of these free licenses on to the other anglers in the state. State, law currently exempts pi sons 70 and over from thM reqirement. ^
THREE NEW Assistant Supervising Game Wardens were approved, bringing the total to six of twelve* such allocated positions that have been filled.
Game Warden Area Leader W.T, Jamison, currently • stationed in Giles County, was named assistant supervisor of the Daniel Boone District. Game Warden Area Leader Blake Denney, now stationed in Clarke County, was promoted to Assistant Supervisor of the Thomas Jefferson District, and Game Warden Area Leader Charlie Hunter of Surry was named to an equivalent post with the Hampton Roads District. □
