PTA to hear Durbrow
A RETIRED UNITED STATES Ambas sador will be guest speaker at the meeting of the Rappahannock County Elementary School Parent-Teachers Association Thursday, February 17, at the school. His subject will be “Communist I'lans for Action.”
Eldridge Durbrow, a former ambassador, during 38 years in the foreign service, had extended tours of duty in Eastern and Western Europe and Southeast Asia. His first two assignment were in Poland and Rumania and he served three t mes in the American Embassy in Moscow. He served over six years in Southeast Asia spending part of that tim 2 in Malaysia as Minister-Consul General, 1955-57 and as U.S.
Ambassador to South Vietnam lrom 1957-61.
Durbrow has been on duty in Italy and was a representative to the NATO Council ii Paris. He was a member of the U.S. Delegation at Bretton Woods in 1944 which set up the World Bank and was Deputy Commandant for Foreign Affairs at the National War College, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. and at Air University,'Maxwell AFB, Ala.
Since his retirement, he has been writing and lecturing on foreign affairs and is presently Director of the Freedom Studies Center it Boston, Va. □
