4 in a Staunton hospital following an illness of five years. He was the son of the late Burgess W. and Martha Smith Hitt and a native of Rappahannock. His wife, Annie Singleton Hilt survives him.
By his first marriage to the late Lottie M. Myers he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Walters of Manassas and Mrs. Ethel Hartless of Harrisonburg, and a son Burgess W. Hitt of Muskegon, Mich.
By his second marriage he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Martha Coffey of Alexandria; a son, Harvey H. Hitt of Port Tobacco, Md., and a foster son, Roy C. Legge Jr. of Culpeper. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Ethel Yowell, a resident of the Virginia Baptist Home in Culpeper.
Pallbearers were Elmer Jenkins, Kenneth Yowell, Ennis Bawkey, Jesse Carpenter, John Arnold, Robert M. Myers, James Bailey and Calvin McCloud. □
