chairman, Mr. Jason Page, Jr., asked the Engineers “if at all possible” to allocate 14 million gallons per day to be used by Fauquier County from Salem Dam.
1 am sure Mr. Carter also knew of the stated requirements of other counties and municipalities included in the report to the Senate. And above all he knew that Congress had approved the project a few years ago.
He also jabs his rapier at the engineering firm of Wiley & Wilson. That firm, as far as 1 can find out. is a reputable firm.
Mr. Carter was told in no uncertain terms at a meeting of the Governor's Advisory Committee on the Rappahannock River Basin a few years ago that if he or anyone else knew of any dishonesty on the part of any public servant he should run as fast as he could to the nearest U.S. District attorney or corresponding State attorney and present his facts. In my opinion that is a “must” action by anyone who is a real citizen.
But now 1 come to Mr. Carter’s “punch” paragraph, his last paragraph, which is typical. He says, in part: “Flooded out by a dam it will be filled with mud in 80 years.” No documentation, no references, not an estimate, but categorically “will be * filled with mud.”
