The following is from the January 20 edition of the Evesham Journal and Four Shires Advertiser. It was entitled “Be Fair to the Unspeakable.” For those who might not know — or who might have forgotten — Oscar Wilde’s description of foxhunting was “The pursuit of the inedible by the unspeakable.”
NOWHERE does the old dictum that all good tings have to come to an end hold good more firmly than =>.- in the correspndence columns of this newspaper when all those who are for or against hunting the fox have had their say.
The moment has arrived yet again, when it is necessary to say that the* present exchange of views must now cease. After this week’s selection only people with something really new to say should go to the trouble and expense of writing to us on this topic. Of course the closure is not final. It never is.
