A serious matter to consider is the use of fire trucks. It is no secret that local fire departments cannot utilize this bridge during an emergency. Since time does not stand still, and fire is no possessor of mercy, there is no question but that a shorter passage to reach many mountainous homes and country estates is desperately needed.
Some have attacked a new bridge as unsafe for children. This is really very silly. A countless number of children live and play near busy streets and highways everyday across this super land of ours. We always hope that they are well-enough informed of the simple fact that “a road is a road is a road,” not a payground.
For one to state “a modern bridge will invite speed demons” is utterly ridiculous. Your unsafe driver is found everywhere. Bridges do not create them. On the contrary, they are famous — unfortunately — for eliminating them permanently.
