Trail Riders’ picnic
THIS WEEKEND THE TRAIL RIDERS of Rappahannock have planned a three hour ride to be combined with a one hour picnic break at Fairfield Farm. All riders should meet at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 24, and each family should pack their own picnic. Picnic parcels and coolers will be collected from everyone at the starting point and piled into a chuck wagon which will meet the riders at Fairfield.
This particular ride will be the subject of a magazine story, so everyone is especially invited to tack up and bring their Sunday munchies.
Directions to the Huntly starting point are as follows: Take 522 out of Flint Hill in the direction of Front Royal. Turn right onto Route 637 immediately after passing Foster Brothers Packing House. Follow the red and white signs down 637 for about three miles to the starting point.
The club’s last ride, led by Dunny Eastham, was a big success with almost 50 people riding out. Additional trail outings through December wpre planned by the members at last week’s meeting. The schedule shows three rides coming up in October to take full advantage of the fall foliage. Two of those rides will head up to Skyline Drive. , Anyone interested in joining the Trail Riders in order to receive the club Newsletter and get the opportunity to borrow books from their new Equine-Equestrian library should call Patty Alexander at 675-3307. □
