John. Quaintance III of Sperryville sustained a broken collarbone when his vehicle struck a tree early Saturday morning on Route 606 west of Flint Hill. Marilyn Koch of Arlington, a passenger in the car, received a back injury and contusions of the forehead. Both were treated at Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal and released.
Quaintance was operating a 71 Chevrolet when he apparently attempted to avoid striking a dog, ran off the right of the road and hit the tree. The vehicle was a total loss.
A 1971 Chrysler operated by Frederick Hughes Hoots of Temple Hills, Md. was sideswiped on Route 211 in Amissville on September 15. An unidentified vehicle struck him on a curve and failed to stop at the scene, continuing east on the highway. Damage to the Chrysler was estimated at $600.
