Navy Seaman Jon W. Johnson, son of Eldon E. Johnson of Woodville, was commended as a crewmember of the USS Little Rock, a guided missile light cruiser, for his efforts as part of the U. S. Sixth Fleet task force in the Mediterranean during the latest Middle East crisis.
The force stood ready to evacuate American citizens from danger areas and to back up the government’s diplomats as they helped negotiate a cease fire. He joined the Navy in July 1973.□
