GOVERNOR Godwin has recommended a law allowing the imposition^ of the death penalty, in the option of the court or jury trying the case, in cases of murder of a law enforcement officer in his line of duty, murder in connection with rape or arson, and a second conviction for first degree murder.
I am in favor of this recommendation and it is hoped that this law will be upheld by the United States Supreme Court which has declared void previous death penalty laws in all states that had such^laws.
