SOUTHEASTERN producers received slightly to sharply lower prices during the week ended February 22 on most items. USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service reports. The exceptions were broilers, peanuts and grain. Feeder cattle prices dropped $1' to $5 at southeastern markets, and feeder calf prices lost $1 to $6 a hundred pounds. Hog prices continued their downward trend with declines of $2.
GRAIN — Cash grain prices in the Southeast area finished the period ending Feb. 21 with a continuing upward trend. Soybean prices ranged 5 to 30 cents higher, corn ranged 8 to 20 cents higher. Best demand for both corn and soybeans was from export buyers.
Soybean processors were mostly on the sidelines with adequate supplies of soybean meal to meet currently slow feed demand. Country movement was fair to good for corn and on the light side for soybeans.
