The legislature has passed, and the Governor has already signed, a bill increasing the Governor’s executive powers to deal with the gasoline shortage. I am confident the Governor will use his authority wisely, but eventually the gasoline shortage and energy crisis will be handled, or attempts will be made to handle it, on the federal level.
THE BILL to provide a department of corrections (penal institutions) separate from the Department of Welfare has passed both houses by a unanimous vote. This will provide more emphasis on the management of the penal institutions.
