Navy Fireman Recruit Charles E. Gray, foster son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard C. Lawson of Star Route 211, Amissville, graduated from recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, 111. He is scheduled to report to Electrician’s Mate “A” School, Great Lakes, The training included instruction in seamanship, military regulations, fire fighting, close order drill, first aid and Navy history.
Trail ride
At 2 p. m. September 22, a trail ride will be led by Frank Barnett paralleling the Shenandoah River. Go to Front Royal and take Route 340 South, toward Luray; go approximately six miles and turn right on Route 737; go le'ss than half a mile to the farm on the left and unload. Last year, ' this ride was enjoyed as one of the most beautiful throughout the entire year.
