DUE TO ACTION by the 1974 Legislature, the dates for legal use of studded tires in Virginia were changed from the period November 1 to April 1 to that of October 15 to April 15, says Colonel H.W. Burgess, Superintendent of State Police.
When the first studded tire legislation was enacted, in 1968, the permissible dates were from October 15 to April 15, as they are now. The 1972 Legislature shortened the period to from November 1 to April 1, Colonel Burgess said.
The new dates set by the 1974 Legislature will expire April 15, 1976, and unless the Legislature of that year acts such tires will become permanently illegal. Now they may be used from October 15 of this year until April 15, 1975, and then from October 15, 1975, until April 15, 1976.
