Colonel Burgess noted that there has been much discussion as to whether the safety features of studded tires justify the damage they do to highways and that extensive research on the matter is still in progress throughout the United States and Canada.□
Dove hunters
given advice
Hunters out for doves this season are reminded that the daily bag limit is 12 birds and that hunters must keep their doves separate from birds taken by other members of their party. Groups of sportsmen who stack their doves and use a cumulative total are in violation of the law.
Hunters are advised to keep their doves separately and put their name and hunting license number on any containers used. This will avoid confusion in the field and a possible violation if the hunters are checked by a Game Warden.
Dove shooters are also reminded that while they may dress birds in the field, one wing must be left attached to the bird for species identification. On opening day, it was noted that a number of hunters were found afield with completely cleaned birds and hunters are cautioned to avoid problems by simply leaving one wing attached to the cleaned bird as required by law.D
