notice that a great effort has been made to update the juvenile section. Mrs. Jane Forward and Mrs. Grace Sims, both professional librarians who have retired to live in Rappahannock, have been real forces in this rejuvenation.
Miss Blackwell also pointed out that the library staff found that many of the books in the adult section were appropriate for the young adults. She said, “Some PR effort must go into educating all of us ‘grey beards’ that ‘young adult’ means from about age 14 to whatever. A number of senior citizens have been pleasantly surprised when they have borrowed a book with the YA sticker on it.”
THE REPORT continued: “We have made a start toward a reading corner upstairs where patrons can spend an hour or two in comfortable lounge chairs and relative reading quiet, surrounded by reference books, the Virginia shelves, and the section on history and travel they often wish to brouse through.”□
