AN EROSION and sedimentation control ordinance will be considered at the April Supervisors meeting. This ordinance, or a similar one initiated by the county, has to be adopted, under a new state law requirement. Representatives from the Soil and Water Conservation Service will be in Rappahannock to discuss the ordinance at that meeting.
Phil Irwin, president of Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, presented a resolution which RLEP wants to be forwarded to the Supervisors. The resolution lists seven areas that RLEP would like to see designated “critical environmental areas.”
“This would not affect the ownership, just draw public attention to their significance,” said Irwin.
Irwin invited the Planners to feel free to add additional areas to the list before forwarding it to the Supervisors. The planners accepted the resolution, but took no action at their meeting Wednesday night, January 22.□ r
