The School Board established the special committee at the School Board meeting November 11, but waited until this week to announce the committee members.
ALSO at the school board meeting November 11, Board members decided that all non-residents of Rappahannock County who want to attend Rappahannock County public schools will have to pay tuition, in the amount of $500 a year, approximately what it costs the county to educate a student in the public schools.
The issue of tuition for nonresidents was raised at the request of Rappahannock High School senior Fook Yuen. Yuen’s parents have moved out of Rappahannock and Yuen now lives in Front Royal so that he can be near his part time job. He had asked to be exempted from the tuition requirement as a “hardship case.”
