BEN HARDAWAY’S visiting Georgia foxhounds proved “deer-proof” during a fourday “hunting duel” between Rappahannock Hunt’s pack and Midland Hunt’s pack, held November 9-November 12.
Last Spring, James W. Fletcher, M. F. H. of the Rappahannock Hunt, invited Benjamin H. Hardaway, M. F. H. of the Midland (Ga.) Hunt to visit his Thornton Hill Farm near Sperryville, to prove Hardaway’s boast of deer-proof hounds. On November 9, Hardaway arrived with 18 couple of hounds, nine horses, three whippersrin and his wife to hunt his own hounds in the most heavily deer-infested mountains of Rappahannock.
