Irwin charged Miller with “gross omissions” and reliance upon obsolete facts and findings. He asked Miller to “withdraw your statement from the NRC and.. .as a representative of the people of Virginia, you refrain from any further promotion of the interests ofVepco.” Irwin cited evidence introduced by citizen groups opposing the new powerlines, including: “radically changed electricity load demands and projected growth rates, and environmental benefits gained by using existing powerline corridors.” He decried the failure of Miller’s statement to recognize the sacrifice and cost to private citizens who have been fighting the new powerhnes for four years, while concerning itself with “costly delays” to the powerful utility company. RLEP last month submitted its own “Proposed Findings of Fact” before the NRC on behalf of the Fauquier League for Environmental Protection. □
