RAPPAHANNOCK High School lost a close one, 3-1, to Stuarts Draft in the finals of the state Group A baseball championship at Luray last Friday night. The underdog Panthers hit the ball well but, unfortunately, to opposing players. Ground balls missed the holes by inches and line drives missed the alleys by the same margin.
“We were beaten by a fine, well coached team,” said Rappahannock coach Preston Douglas. “Stuarts Draft lost in the semifinals last year. This year they returned most of the same team. ITiey had tournament experience and it showed.”
