Bicentennial
4-H projects
4-H Club girls in grades 4 through 7 at Rappahannock County High School have completed a Bicentennial project which included essay^J&y some, attending a theatre performance, hearing about spinning and dyeing wool, pottery making, fashions and customs over the past years.
The essays were written about the Revolutionary period, as if the girls were living during that era. Winners were 1,2 and 3 in each groop, respectively: grade 4-Donna Atkins. Connie Harrison,
Linda Leake; grade 5-Kathy Atkins, Kristie Johnson, Patricia Scott; grade 6-Beverly Whorton, Margie Men efee, Cindy Nicholson; grade 7-Rhonda Foster, Beth Fannon and Norma Whorton.
Mrs. Helen Holschuh met with the group to show a film and supervise making Pilgrims and discussing the first Thanksgiving.
A performance was given in December by the Wayside Theatre on Tour which focused on one of the best American Generals of the Revolution, Daniel Morgan.
Mrs. Ruth Pillar and Mrs. Margie Albright demonstrated the art of spinning wool and using natural dyes. June Jordan, a professional potter, demonstrated this craft to the club.
