Next to the winery is tfcepackage store, the outlet for the Raney’s fine red and white wines. Farfelu recently announced its first vintage, a small bottling of Seyval Blanc, a dry white wine. Orders are now being taken for pickup after June 15.
Both Charles and Lou emphasized that the work at Farfelu vineyards is still in experimental stages. Growing wine grapes and making fine wines is not an exact science but a trial and error ope ration, particularly with Virginia’s wet and soggy summers. The Raneys feel they have made a good beginning. □
