Charles Raney inspects the equipment housed in his winery, an old converted barn with stone walls and newly poured concrete floors. Grapes are sent down a chute through the ceiling into the crusher. From there the juice is pumped into tanks where it is filtered and aged before bottling. Farfelu Vineyards, the first winery to be licensed in Virginia since Thomas Jefferson, is now taking orders for wine to be picked up after June 15.
