An area of particular concern to Studt is teaching his students how to fill out forms—something that they’ll be faced with the rest of their lives, whether they choose to become leisure time readers or not. He has prepared an original study program to teach this skill.
The next major project is a six week unit on poetry. The students will be required to pick a poem, memorize it and then give an oral presentation. Studt wasn’t sure how this idea would go over but added “it’s surprising, some of these kids love poetry.” He said he had used lyrics from popular rock
