Mount Salem services

EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 10, will mark the re-birth of the old Mount Salem Baptist Church, which has not been used for many years. The first religious service to be held there since restoration of the building began a year ago will be held at 3 p.m. in the afternoon Easter Sunday. The church is located near Washington on Route 626. “It is quite fitting that Easter Sunday should be the first service because, for almost 20 years the church has been dormant and falling into disrepair and to the mercy of vandals,” said the Rev. B. G. Titchenell, who will be speaker for the initial service. “This will truly be the ressurection of the church.”

The public is invited to worship in the “church in the wildwood” and to join in the service so the church may again ring out with hymns of praise, Mr. Titchenell added.

The Mount Salem Restoration Association will hold its^monthly meeting on April 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the hotne of Mr. and Mrs. Geoige H. Davis Jr. It is important for all who are interested in the church to attend for there remains much more to be done.
