Public comment is being sought on two documents pertaining to proposed management of nearly 200-million acre National Forest System, according to information received from George Smith, Supervisor of the George Washington National Forest. Smith said that, “The public is being offered an opportunity which can help determine the future of the Nation’s recreation, wilderness, fish and wildlife, timber, water and forage resources for the next half-century.”
Comment from the public is being sought on the adequacy of the two long-range planning documents which were issued March 11, 1977 as the initial step in the preparation of a national assessment of renewable natural resources and a management program for the Forest Service.
