From Pape 2 nouncement and the film had reasonably good publicity with posters and newspapers. The public . was invited at no charge. At the showing there were just three adults and two boys other than those club members who attended.

For months, the magazines and newspapers have sounded the alarm by Russian defectors and dissidents. Almost every top-ranking military commander in the United States armed forces has decried our declining strength. Edward Teller, the father of the H bomb, has stated regarding the military strength of the United States— “It now seems probable we are No. 2.” Yet for some reason our area has missed the importance of the whole subject.

Another question of national concern is the Panama Canal. In this country and other parts of the world, there are sacred cows, but nothing seems comparable to our sacred jackass, die United States State Department, now negotiating with Panama to relinquish control of our canal, a control which according to a copyright article states, “the canal is already lost to Americans!” Contrast the strong rebuff of Virginia’s Senator Harry F. Byrd, Jr. against any suggested “blackmail” by Panama with the weak position of Senator Gale McGee of Wyoming, who has said, “the canal is probably the most explosive factor in our hemisphere affairs today. In these times of briefcase bombs, it is almost indefensible in a hostile situation.”

Is it possible that cowardice is added to indifference? If the State Department and the United States Senate gives the Panama Canal away in fear of a briefcase bomb and the threats of a pop gun arsenal cause our country to surrender rightfully acquired territory, what concessions will be made when the Russians parade their superior armaments and make relatively larger demands? Will we surrender Alaska because it was rightfully purchased from a Czarist regime?
